What Is Argentium Silver 940?

Argentium Silver 940 contains 94% silver, compared with the 92.5% found in traditional sterling silver.

Its formulation includes germanium, which helps improve resistance to tarnishing. This makes it a practical choice for jewellery intended to be worn and enjoyed.

Why I Choose It for My Jewellery

A naturally bright finish

Argentium has a bright, white colour that complements both smooth surfaces and intricate textures. In my designs, light catches the polished areas while shadows reveal the depth of the details.

Greater resistance to tarnishing

Argentium is more resistant to tarnishing than traditional sterling silver, helping it retain its appearance with less maintenance.

Tarnish-resistant does not mean maintenance-free: occasional gentle cleaning and careful storage still help keep your jewellery looking its best.

Higher silver content

With 94% silver, Argentium 940 exceeds the silver content of standard sterling. For me, it is a considered material choice that supports the care put into designing and finishing each piece.

Consideration for sensitive skin

The manufacturer describes Argentium as hypoallergenic and suitable for many people who find traditional sterling silver uncomfortable to wear.
